Music, particularly singing, has always been an essential part of the Catholic life. We sing sacred music at Mass, but music of many styles and instruments also belongs in our school experience!
Music at Christ the King begins in Pre-K and is a skill-building program. All of our students will learn healthy ways to use and develop their voices and gather a repertoire of songs for many occasions, including sacred music for Mass, folk songs for fun, art music for its beauty, and songs from different cultures around the world. Every child will learn to read and write music notation, and instruments including xylophones and percussion will allow our students to explore and create music of their own.
The Schola Cantorum children's choir will sing for Sunday Masses and lead singing at the weekly school Mass, and everyone will learn to sing their appropriate parts for worship. All classes will learn performance practice and create concerts for each other and for family and friends.
